Cascade welcomes new resident — Idaho 55 bridge

The old, narrow, width-restricted bridge over the North Fork Payette River was replaced recentlywith one more than twice as wide. The previous bridge was 24 feet wide, and was replaced with one 60 feet wide, 393 feet long that has three spans. The new bridge has two 12-foot lanes, two 11-foot shoulders and a 14-foot median.

In addition, a paved extension to the shared-use path under the bridge on the north side of the river was built to provide access from both sides of the bridge to the new riverside park.

Wadsworth Brothers Construction Co. Inc., of Draper, Utah, is the contractor for this $4.83 million project The bridge is essentiall complete, however installation of some permanent signs and mileposts, and the planting of willows awaits next spring when the ground thaws sufficiently.
