Free workshops in eastern and southern Idaho Feb. 11-13 show how
to do business with government

Learn basic guidelines for doing business with the government at these free workshops:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Montpelier City Hall, 534 Washington St.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Malad City Hall, 59 Bannock St.
  • Thursday, Feb. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gooding City Hall, 308 Fifth Ave. West

The program will feature presenters from the ITD, the Idaho Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Forest Service and Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Participants will get an overview on bidding with the state of Idaho, requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, how business certifications can give an advantage and services available, like free bid-matching.

Other topics include learning about and competing for government contracts, the difference between state and federal contracting, understanding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, 8(a) Business Development Program, HUBZone Certification, other business certifications and where to find assistance.
