Rising water keeps ITD crews watchful

Springtime flooding, or the threat of it, is as much a part of ITD¹s existence each year as Rock Patrol or Avalanche Control. During March, rivers statewide encroach on flood stage, threatening to overflow their banks and send water spilling onto roads and undermining highways annually.

Below are some photos from early evening Monday (March 10) showing ITD crews clearing snags and debris from the Weiser River Bridge in Cambridge. The foreman, Brian Inwards, said the river was running about 6-7 feet lower the following morning and was clear of obstacles.
