Women business owners may learn about federal contracting opportunities
at free workshop in Boise

Women who own businesses may learn how to do business with the federal government at a free workshop held at the Idaho Transportation Department from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 23, in Boise.

The ChallengeHER—Boise, ID, workshop registration and networking will begin at 8 a.m. in the Darrell V Manning boardroom and auditorium at ITD Headquarters, 3311 W. State. The program begins at 9 a.m. and will feature Idaho Senator Jim Risch and Maria Contreras-Sweet, newly appointed national Small Business Administration administrator.

Sen. Risch is the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee.

Discussing “Women in Federal Contracting” will be a panel of established woman-run businesses and another panel of federal agencies, which includes the U.S. Forest Service, Idaho National Guard and U.S. Department of Energy. Idaho National Laboratory prime contractors also will participate on the federal-agencies panel.

Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) federal contactors have a unique opportunity to:

- Participate in Federal Contracting 101 and WOSB workshops
- Get contracting advice and learn about resources in local communities
- Receive updates on current procurement policy and the WOSB program
- Hear insightful real-life success stories from women business owners
- Network with peer mentors and other WOSB and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) firms working in similar fields

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), and American Express OPEN (OPEN) have partnered to host women business owners for this special contracting event.

Workshop participants will need to bring a photo I.D. for registration and are encouraged to bring business cards for networking purposes.
