Kimbol Allen named ITD's new District 6 engineer

Kimbol Allen, who has served the transportation community in southern Idaho for nearly 15 years, is the new District 6 engineer for the Idaho Transportation Department. Allen will assume leadership of District 6, which is the department's northeastern Idaho region, on May 27.

ITD Chief Operations Officer Jim Carpenter announced the selection of Allen on Friday. Allen has been the District 4 operations engineer in Shoshone since 2011. He succeeds Blake Rindlisbacher, who in January was named administrator for ITD's newly created Division of Engineering Services at ITD Headquarters in Boise.

Allen will supervise 153 employees in Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison and Teton counties, overseeing design, construction and maintenance of the state highway system of more than 2,300 lane miles and 350 bridges in eastern Idaho.

Allen, 39, earned his engineering degree from Utah State University in 1999. He started his career with ITD that same year. He has held management positions in both construction and maintenance at ITD's District 4 office.

Kimbol was born and raised in Rupert. He and his wife, Susan, are the parents of five children. They plan to move to the Upper Valley this summer.
