Free USDOT bonding education workshop offered July 9-10 in Boise

Public construction projects require surety bonding and insurance for contractors so the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and US Department of Transportation (USDOT) will host a free bonding education workshop July 9-10 designed to help with that process.

Open to all contractors seeking to increase business capacity and run operations more efficiently, the workshop will be held in Boise at the Idaho Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, 1649 West Shoreline Drive. Space is limited so participants should register now at www.bepidaho2014.eventbrite.com.

The two-day program features presenters from the Surety & Fidelity Association of America, the USDOT Northwest Small Business Transportation Resource Center and ITD.  The workshop is meant to educate construction contractors about industry challenges and assist them with obtaining surety bonds or increase their bonding capacity.

While the unique workshop applies specifically to transportation-related businesses, other small-business representatives are welcome to attend and may find the information valuable.

Participants will interact with service providers and bonding producers. They also will learn how to conduct business with local, state and federal agencies. Topics will include:

Bonding Fundamentals

Construction Accounting and Financial Management

Banking and Financing for Small Contractors

Claims and Dispute Resolutions

Upcoming Opportunities with Agencies and Transportation Prime Contractors

In addition to many opportunities for networking, the workshop offers contractors who make advance appointments an opportunity to meet one-on-one with surety bonding agents. Lunch is included both days.
