Mark Farrer and Jim Staley

Farrer and Staley provide great emergency service on blowout

Rosie Panter submitted a letter to the editor to the Idaho Statesman in the first week of June thanking a pair of good Samaritans from ITD who changed a flat tire for her after she hit a curb at McDonalds, blew out her tire, and just missed causing a rear-end collision around 1 p.m. the week before.

Panter had her emergency flashers on in the turn lane heading into a dead end when Marc Farrer (Res. 3 Construction) and Jim Staley (Res. 2 Construction) stopped to help.

"Marc, patiently, was lying on the road working a very unsatisfactory jack, and Jim was preventing anyone from running over Marc," wrote Panter. "Both men were able to get me back on the road very quickly and Marc directed me to the nearest tire shop in Meridian. The state of Idaho should be proud of their employees. I know I am. Thank you again, guys!"

Staley had just completed a density test for the Meridian Road Interchange reconstruction, and Farrer was on his way to get another test. "Marc called me for back-up so he could change the lady's tire without getting run over," Staley said. "We took care of it as fast as we could so as to get her on her way and the road clear. She was very happy to have the help," he added.
