Free workshop in Shoshone shows how to do business with the government

Learn basic guidelines for doing business with the government at a free workshop in Shoshone Tuesday, Oct. 7.  The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bureau of Land Management, 400 West F St.
 
The program will feature presenters from the Idaho Transportation Department, the Idaho Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
 
Participants will get an overview on bidding with the state of Idaho, requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, how business certifications can give an advantage and services available, such as free bid-matching.
 
Other topics to be covered include how to learn about government contracts and how to compete for them, the difference between state and federal contracting, understanding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, 8(a) Business Development Program, HUBZone Certification, other business certifications and where to go for assistance.
