Board honors employees for accomplishments, milestones ITD’s commitment to ensuring safety, mobility and economic opportunity depends on the expertise and determination of each employee working hard to improve the lives of all Idahoans. On Oct. 15, the Idaho Transportation Board and ITD leaders celebrated employee accomplishments and professional milestones. Employees honored represented a combined 565 years of public service. Retirees being honored represent an additional 284 years of service. That totals 849 years of service to the department and the citizens of Idaho. Two other individuals acknowledged were David Petersdorf from District 5 who has been named Maintenance Person of the year and Tyrell Winther from District 2 who has been selected as Safety Person of the year. Petersdorf found a better way to paint sections of highway without wasting paint by redesigning a new bead nozzle. His work has saved more than $110,000 in Districts 5 and 6. Winther moonlights as an emergency medical technician and volunteer with the Potlatch Rural Fire Department. He has brought those safety skills to his district and is training his colleagues.
