Lakey joins Asset Management team Nov. 3

Another asset has joined the burgeoning Transportation Systems unit, as Caleb Lakey moves into the Asset Management (formerly Pavement Management) engineer spot vacated by Karen Merrick. Lakey begins his new role Nov. 3.

“Caleb will be responsible for managing the pavement module in TAMS (Transportation Asset Management System), supervision of the pavement-data-collection crews (Falling Weight Deflectometer, Skid and Profiler), management of the bridge deficiency data, assistance with determining pavement funding splits for the ITIP based on data, and drafting the ITD Transportation Asset Management Plan,” explained Tom Points, transportation systems engineer and Lakey’s new boss.

“Caleb brings valuable leadership experience to this new position along with a positive vision for the future in Asset Management,” Points added.

Lakey, who grew up in the west Boise area, joined ITD in 2012 as a staff engineer in the Environmental section after serving five and one-half years active duty in the Army. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2006 with an engineering degree. Lakey has been married for eight years, with two young daughters — a five-year-old and three-year-old.
