Crossovers return on I-84 from Meridian to Five Mile

Throughout the last week (Feb. 10–15), crews were placing a new traffic pattern on Interstate 84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads.

Implementation of the traffic pattern was weather dependent.

As part of the new traffic pattern, eastbound I-84 was reduced to three lanes last weekend between the Meridian Interchange and Cloverdale Road. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph in the work zone.

During the week, crews will striped, moved guardrail and shifted traffic on I-84 between Meridian and Five Mile roads. With the new configuration in place, drivers can expect:

  • I-84 will be reduced to three lanes in both directions from the Wye Interchange to just west of the Meridian Interchange.
  • The far left westbound lane will cross the median to the eastbound side between Cloverdale and Meridian roads. Motorists in this lane will not be able to exit westbound I-84 at Eagle Road or Meridian Road.
  • One eastbound lane will cross the median to the westbound side between Cloverdale Road and the Wye Interchange.

The lane restrictions and traffic pattern will remain in place through the summer as crews continue rebuilding the 1960s-era outside lanes and shoulders of the freeway. The interstate improvements are expected to be complete late this year.

ITD reminds drivers to leave early, slow down and pay attention.
