Sablan named new Design and Traffic Services Engineer at Headquarters

ITD District 3 Traffic Engineer Kevin Sablan has been selected as the new Design and Traffic Services Engineer at Headquarters. He replaces Carl Main, who retired from the position in January.

Sablan has worked as traffic engineer for District 3 since 2005. While there, he managed the district traffic design staff's project development, data collection and traffic analysis activities. He was also responsible for overseeing maintenance activities for the district's traffic services crews.

While providing traffic technical support to the district's design, construction, development services and maintenance offices, Sablan also coordinated district activities with elected officials, local municipalities, law enforcement, highway groups and the general public. He was often called on to identify and evaluate district safety projects.

"I am excited to have Kevin join the Engineering Services Team," said Division of Engineering Services Administrator Blake Rindlisbacher. "I'm confident the experience and perspective that he gained while working in District 3 will enable his success in Design/Traffic Services. Please join me in welcoming Kevin to his new position."

Before taking over as District 3's traffic engineer, Sablan served as staff engineer for the Consultant Administration Unit at Headquarters from 2002 to 2005. He assisted ITD district offices with securing consultant services during that time.

From 1999 to 2002, he worked as an ITD Engineer in Training (EIT). He was lead inspector for concrete paving activities for the WYE Interchange Project in Boise.

Before coming to the department, Sablan was a design engineer for CG Engineering in Edmonds, Wash., and the Boeing Company in Everett, Wash.

He attended Boise State University and later graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1996.
