District 5 intern Denice Wright earns WASHTO scholarship

Denise Wright, a senior in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Idaho State University currently interning in the District 5 office in Pocatello, recently earned a $1,000 scholarship from the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (WASHTO). She carries a 3.25 GPA in her major, with a minor in mathematics.

Denice, a graduate of American Falls High School, was an outstanding student and volunteer in the community. She is excited to be at ITD and is enjoying her intern experience in the project development design section. Denice is the younger sister of D5 Staff Engineer Greydon Wright.

WASHTO granted each of the 18 member state departments of transportation a $1,000 scholarship to award to an individual seeking education and career opportunities in a transportation-related field. The scholarship money will likely help defray school tuition costs.

ITD sent out the call to any current employee or family member. Wright provided an application, essay, letters of recommendation from two professors within the ISU Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and her scholastic transcript.
