Customer service featured in midst of conference

Good customer service never takes a day off.

That was never truer than in the midst of the recent Highway Safety Summit in Pocatello in early May.

Noticing a bunch of ITD vehicles in the parking lot, Greg Perry approached and reported that a sign in the highway was displaying the wrong information.

“At this point, ITD Hearing Officer John Tomlinson grabbed a notebook and a pen to copy down the information. The presence of pen and paper provoked Gary to state ‘wow, you’re making me feel important,’” ALS Unit Supervisor Santiago Palomera said.

Tomlinson promised Greg that he would make sure he got the information to the right person.

“Greg was amazed at how he was treated and was extremely grateful. John could have just referred him to the ITD website or told him to contact District 5, but John took one extra minute to take his information and make it more personable,” Palomera said. “This is a great example of what excellent customer service is and how we should act everywhere we go when we represent ITD.”
