UPDATE: I-84 daytime lane reductions avoided

Through the 11th-hour efforts of ITD and the contractor, (Concrete Placing Company), daytime lane reductions on a heavily traveled stretch of I-84 have been avoided. Crews will complete rebuilding the outside lanes and shoulders at the Meridian Interchange with only additional nighttime lane reductions.

In order to maintain three lanes in each direction during daytime hours, crews will begin rebuilding the westbound outside lanes and shoulders. Previously, crews were scheduled to work east- and westbound simultaneously. Once westbound improvements are complete, work will begin on eastbound I-84.

"Maintaining mobility and reducing congestion are critical aspects of the department's commitment to the traveling public as we work to complete the final stage of I-84 construction," said Amy Revis, ITD District 3 engineer. "We are proud of the efforts the contractor and our team have put into this revised plan."

"ITD recognizes and appreciates the efforts of our transportation and law enforcement partners in preparing for impacts on Interstate 84 and local roads."
