D3 wins awards for Lardo Bridge innovation, GARVEE outreach

District 3 staff was recognized with two awards highlighting excellence and innovation during the Oct. 22 Idaho Transportation Department’s board meeting in Boise.

As Treasure Valley GARVEE projects wind down, its project managers and consultant team RBCI were honored with a 2015 Excellence in Transportation award in the category of public outreach, involvement and information for work associated with Interstate 84 GARVEE construction. District 3 staff was also honored with a “Best of the Best” Innovation award in the category of economic opportunity for its design and construction of the Lardo Bridge in McCall. The design-build project used the “lateral-slide” construction method, which reduced the number of days Idaho 55 was closed to just 35 days, as opposed to a traditional eight-month construction cycle.
