New Meridian Interchange dedicated

As construction of the Meridian Interchange winds down, the Meridian Chamber of Commerce and Treasure Valley leaders marked the occasion with a lunch and ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 29.

Sen. Chuck Winder, Meridian Mayor Tammy deWeerd, former ITD Director and Board Chairman Darrell Manning, current ITD chairman Jerry Whitehead and District 3 Board Member Julie DeLorenzo and other community and business leaders spoke during the gathering at Wahooz, near the interchange. The event also recognized its construction as the final Treasure Valley GARVEE-funded project, behind the Broadway and Gowen Interchanges, which were dedicated in September.

Construction is on schedule to be finished by the end of the year. The Meridian Road bridge over Interstate 84 and the on- and off-ramps have been completed, the new single point urban interchange (SPUI) signal is operational, and Meridian Road has been rebuilt.

Additionally, rehabilitation of the outside lanes of I-84 between the Wye Interchange and Locust Grove Road has wrapped up. Final activities include the installation of center medians and islands along the newly rebuilt section of Meridian Road, paving, and some landscaping.
