ITD summit Feb. 10 will focus on freight in Idaho

Developing a statewide strategic plan for moving freight in Idaho will be the goal of the Idaho Freight Summit Wednesday, Feb. 10 in Boise.

Idaho Freight Summit: Freight – Driving Idaho’s Economy will be hosted by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and will be held in the Simplot Room at Boise State University’s Student Union. The summit will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (MST), with check-in from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

“Anyone interested in the movement of freight through Idaho is welcome to attend and contribute to this important discussion,” said ITD Freight Program Manager Jeff Marker.

Idaho Lt. Gov. Brad Little will be the summit’s guest speaker. ITD and freight-systems experts from Cambridge Systematics will offer additional presentations on current freight-related legislation, freight’s relationship to Idaho’s economy, freight safety and a freight system network analysis.

During the summit, attendees are encouraged to participate in breakout discussions meant to gather thoughts and ideas regarding a strategic plan for freight in Idaho.

The summit is open to the public and there is no cost to participate.
