Indiana Avenue will close at Karcher Road for two weeks starting today

Indiana Avenue will be closed in both directions just south of Karcher Road beginning today (Friday, March 18). The closure will be in place 24/7 for two weeks as crews work on irrigation and utilities near the intersection. Utility work is necessary to prepare for improvements that will be constructed at the intersection this summer.

The closure on Indiana will extend from Karcher to just south of the bridge over the Deer Flat Canal. Traffic will be detoured to Orchard Avenue via Florida Avenue and Montana Avenue.

The work zone speed limit will be 45 mph on Karcher and 30 mph on Indiana.

The schedule for this work is weather-dependent.

Work to improve the intersection will begin in June. A signal will be installed and the intersection will be widened. Construction is expected to be complete late this summer

The project will enhance safety and traffic flow and is one of several intersection improvements being constructed on Idaho 55 in Canyon County through 2017.
