Broadway Interchange and Gowen Railroad Bridges project earns
ACEC of Idaho Excellence award

The recently completed project to replace the traditional Broadway Interchange with a SPUI structure and replace the railroad bridges leading to Gowen Road, earned a first-place award from the ACEC of Idaho in the Engineering Excellence, Transportation category.

The ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies) represents the consulting engineers of Idaho. The project will be profiled at the ACEC of Idaho awards luncheon April 11 in Boise.

The project began in February 2014 and was completed in December 2015. Besides replacing the traditional interchange configuration at Broadway with the Treasure Valley’s third SPUI, the freeway between Broadway and Gowen was widened to three lanes and the railroad bridges were replaced to accommodate the widening.

Horrocks Engineers designed the project, and the prime contractor on the $26.2 million work was Concrete Placing Company, of Boise.
