ITD annual equipment roadeos kick off May 18

Riggins played host to the first rodeo of the season last weekend, with several hundred cowboys taking part in the arena action or the ride on beer coolers down the nearby hillside. ITD will begin an event of a different sort in mid-May, as the annual district-by-district roadeo events will take place from May 18-June 9, with Pocatello hosting the first event at their main complex next Wednesday.

Roadeo events include a knowledge test, plus driving/maneuvering single-axle plow trucks and loaders.

The top three finishers and top foreman from that district all advance to the statewide competition, held this year in District 6's Idaho Falls maintenance yard.

The schedule for the 2016 slate of roadeos is as follows:

May 18 – District 5 (Pocatello Main Complex)
May 24 – District 1 (Athol Gravel Pit)
May 26 – District 2 (Dworshak Dam)
June 1 – District 3 (Garden Valley Gravel Pit)
June 7 – District 4 (Twin Falls Mtce. yard)
June 9 – District 6 (Idaho Falls Mtce. yard)
June 14 – Statewide (Idaho Falls Mtce. yard)
