Poignant, powerful Highway Safety video sets social-media records

A short, but powerful video produced by ITD’s Office of Highway Safety and partner KBOI Channel 2 television has generated the most activity every for an un-promoted OHS video. The video has been viewed 10,500 times on ITD’s main webpage. The video originated on the OHS page June 22.

The video, “Driving Toward Zero on Idaho Highways,” is also playing on the webpage of the Idaho Statesman.

The 100 days of summer driving are typically the most dangerous on Idaho’s roads, and since this Memorial Day, Idaho has lost 34 lives on highways — family and friends who will never come home.  That number has grown by a dozen lives in the short time since the video was produced.

“That increase is a great reminder of the need for vigilance on our highways," said Josephine Middleton of ITD’s Office of Highway Safety. “Please make smart choices when you drive. A goal of zero fatalities is the only acceptable number for Idaho families.”

OHS thanks everyone involved in making the PSA, which is dedicated to the 86 lives lost on Idaho highways last summer.
