If tight personal budgets have prompted you to pick up a second job for supplemental income, you’re not alone. In response to questions from legislators, state agencies have been compiling and forwarding information on the number of classified employees who hold one or more additional jobs. This is the second consecutive year legislators have requested such information, and as a result, ITD has started compiling the data annually, said Human Resources Manager Mary Harker.
In 2003, 17 percent of ITD’s classified workforce – 302 employees – indicated they held an additional job. Last year the number increased to 323, or 18 percent of the ITD workforce. The numbers represent only those employees who provided such information. A second job is defined as one for which an employee is on a payroll. Those who are self-employed, who own farms or ranches from which they earn money, or those who make money through the sale of their own products are not included in the report. |
