The 2004 W-2s were delivered to the Statehouse mailroom on Jan. 18. They are being distributed now. Officials in the Division of Human Resources say employees should have received their W-2s sometime this week. Anyone who has not received his or her W-2 by Monday (Jan. 31), should call (208) 334-2394. A Reminder on Returned W-2s All W-2s are marked as 'Return Service Requested', so if they cannot be delivered to the original address for any reason (even change of address) they should be returned to the State Controller's Office. The post office does not immediately forward them. Once a W-2 has been returned, the address is again checked against the system. If the address on the system has been updated it will be put back in the mail to the new address. If the address on the system has not been updated, it is then determined whether the employee is active or terminated. If an employee is terminated and has a forwarding address from the post office then the W-2 is forwarded. If the employee is an active employee, the W-2 is held until either the address is corrected on the system or the employee contacts the state Controller's Office. Also, state Controller's Office will not start processing duplicate W-2s ($5 fee) or photocopy requests for 2004 W-2s until after Monday, Jan. 31. To request a copy or duplicate of a W-2 There is a difference between a copy and a duplicate. If a duplicate is needed, the W-2 actually has to be reprinted, and there is an associated fee. It is possible for the State Controller's Office to issue a copy. There is no fee for the copy. |
