Jackson to lead effort to set new goals,
objectives for Web

ITD Webmaster Steve Jackson will lead an initiative to establish new goals and objectives for the use of the Web as an internal and external communications tool.

Jackson also will lead the establishment of a department-wide Web Council that will take a broad and systematic view of the department's Internet presence. After a charter is established and goals are defined for the new Web Council, it will begin regularly reviewing, updating the existing site and recommending and implementing new Web-related technologies.

Jackson's roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Offering web project management assistance and consultation;
  • Participating in updating ITD's communication plan;
  • Researching web technology advances;
  • Developing a web training plan;
  • Informing internal and external customers about Web policies and procedures;
  • Soliciting feedback from internal and external customers; and
  • Participating on department-wide teams regarding web technology.

Discussions are being held to examine what resources will be required to establish a web development service center for the department.

The Webmaster is part of the Public Affairs section at Headquarters.
