HILL given top score in Connecting Idaho review
The
Idaho Transportation Board last week considered
presentations by two prospective teams seeking to
manage the state’s Connecting Idaho program.
Board members scored both proposals and tentatively
selected Washington Group International and CH2M
HILL.

Board
to hear about success of fish migration project
Fish access to Henry’s Lake, which is internationally
renowned for its Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout and
other resident species, through the Targhee and
Howard Creek tributaries has been limited by the
geometry of culverts crossing Idaho 87. ITD staff
will provide a report to the board next week (Wednesday,
Jan. 18) indicating the a special culvert construction
project to enhance fish migration was finished on
time and within the established budget.

Legislative presentations scheduled
ITD
Director Dave Ekern and department administrators
will meet with legislators this month and in early
February to discuss accomplishments of the past
year and funding priorities for Fiscal Year 2007.
They will give a joint presentation to the House
and Senate transportation committees at the Capitol
on Thursday, Jan. 26. They will make a similar presentation
to the Joint Finance and Appropriation Committee
two weeks later, at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 9.

Crash
claims life of POE inspector
Ryan T. Johnson, an inspector for the Huetter Port
of Entry in District 1, lost his life in a motor
vehicle crash Tuesday, Dec. 27. Johnson, a resident
of Rathdrum, had been visiting family in Stites,
south of Kooskia, over the Christmas holidays. He
reportedly was returning to his job in northern
Idaho when the early-morning crash occurred.

AMS
timesheet application to go live Wednesday
On
January 18, 2006 ITD will begin using ITD Advantage
(often referred to as AMS) to capture timesheet
data and process payroll. The payroll portion of
the system will go live January 15, the beginning
of the pay period; however, we ask that you not
attempt to enter timesheet data into the system
until the 18th.

Vulnerability
assessment planned for transit systems
One of the nation’s leading trainers
in public transportation threats and vulnerabilities
will return to Idaho next week to continue
site assessments he began in August of Idaho’s
public transportation providers. Gary Gleason,
president of Colorado-based Communiqué
USA, will visit Pocatello Regional Transit
in Pocatello, Wednesday (Jan. 18), and travel
to Boise for meetings with ITD’s Division
of Public Transportation on Friday (Jan.
20).

Letter exchanges
brighten holidays
Away from the workplace, many ITD employees
touch their fellow citizens through their
generous gift of time and resources. Each
year Jeri Ross and Barbara Bates collect
a list of Meals on Wheels recipients in
the Pocatello area who do not have family
or others to provide and care for them.
The needs are especially evident during
the holidays.

W-2 forms
available online
State employees who want to get an early
start on income tax preparation do not have
to wait until late January when W-2 forms
that report annual earnings traditionally
are mailed. Electronic W-2 forms will be
available on the State Controller’s
Office Web site, effective today (Jan. 13),
about a week before the scheduled mailing
begins.
