rollerblading, jogging and walking will assemble
Aug. 17 to celebrate completion of the a new recreational
trail – the Greater Blackfoot Area Greenbelt
– a loop of nearly 10 miles that connects
the city with Rose Pond.

to consider safety report, request
The Idaho Transportation
Board will review results of the 2004 collision report
for Idaho and the FY 2006 Office of Traffic and Highway
Safety’s (OTHS) proposed safety performance
plan when it meets in Pocatello Wednesday and Thursday
(Aug. 17-18).

trash is trash... or is it?
Trash
is trash, regardless of size and shape. Just ask a
teenager who was engaged in an Adopt-A-Highway campaign
a few miles west of Chubbuck. After depositing an
array from fast-food packaging and soda cans into
her garbage bag she picked up rifle from along the
highway and routinely stuffed it into her bag with
the other refuse.

Residents
of the Treasure Valley have indicated
they want to better understand transportation
funding. Some have a sense that funding
is inadequate; others believe that current
funds may not be managed as efficiently
as they could be.

Invasive
weeds contribute to fire threat
They come with
benign names like June Grass, Foxtail Chess,
and bufflegrass, or the soft-sounding Downy
Brome. Though pretty sounding, these insidious
invasive weeds are continuing to expand
their range and dominate native plant communities
across large portions of our Western landscape.

collaborates in project to protect Cutthroat
trout
Thanks to some
hard work by state and federal agencies
and and community environmental groups,
the Yellowstone cutthroat trout survival
rate may improve in the Henry's Lake area.
The problem: Erosion of the streambeds
on Targhee and Howard creeks below culverts
under Idaho Highway 87 north of the lake
had blocked fish movement between the
lake and the spawning streams.
