on STIP increase 40 percent
Input on future highway projects increased substantially
during the Statewide Transportation Investment Program
(STIP) comment period this year, according to Sonna Lynn
Fernandez, STIP coordinator. She presented a report on
the 2007-2011 STIP to Idaho Transportation Board members
at their monthly business meeting in Pocatello Sept. 21.

identifies Legislative proposals for '07
Five proposals related to the Division
of Motor Vehicles have been approved for introduction
to the 2006 Legislature and the Idaho Transportation
Board has approved the basic concept of four other proposals.
Formal action on those four may come during the next
board meeting, Oct. 17, 18 in Boise.

modernization begins with computer test kiosks
ITD’s Division
of Motor Vehicles took the first major step in its extensive
modernization project by introducing electronic driver’s
license tests at sites in Boise and Emmett. Computer
kiosks recently were installed at the Ada County Sheriff’s
Office licensing center on Barrister Street and at the
Gem County Assessor’s office in Emmett. Seventeen
other kiosks sites will be added this fall in the first
phase of the pilot project.

ITD and other state employees have an opportunity to
put their care into action by participating in the annual
“United We Care” charitable giving campaign
that begins Monday (Oct. 2) and continues through Oct.

Oktoberfest
planned Thursday at Headquarters
Two culinary traditions – German Sausages
and Idaho potatoes – will merge Thursday (Oct. 5)
in a celebration of 2006 Oktoberfest. The event is sponsored
by the Headquarters employee organization DoRolCo. Free
to members DoRolCo members, Oktoberfest will feature a
menu of German sausage, Bratwurst or veggie sausages with
condiments, plus chili, pie and beverage.

ITD Headquarters is a 44-acre oasis surrounded by a busy
five-lane street, the Boise River greenbelt and residential
areas. One of the two routes accessing the campus is Jordan
Street which bisects a residential area directly to the
east.
