Weekend work on Nampa/Caldwell Boulevard will require additional lane restrictions
BOISE - Major work this weekend will complete construction on eastbound Nampa/Caldwell Boulevard and begin construction on the final stretch of westbound lanes, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Traffic on Nampa/Caldwell Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday between Midland Boulevard and Canyon Street.
The work will begin with pulverizing the westbound lanes, which will allow crews to begin reconstructing the roadway. Pulverizing will begin Friday night and continue until mid-day Saturday. Daytime work will occur in 200-meter sections to avoid main driveways during business hours. Flaggers will direct traffic.
Crews will then begin preparing the eastbound lanes for paving. The roadway will be paved Sunday night.
Both eastbound lanes will re-open at 6 a.m. Monday, and reconstruction will resume on the westbound lanes at night. One westbound lane will remain closed during the day for curb and gutter work through Aug. 31.
The section between Midland and Canyon Streets is the final stage of a project to reconstruct two miles of deteriorated road surface on Nampa/Caldwell Boulevard. The project also includes a partnership with the city of Nampa to extend curb and gutter along the north side of the boulevard. The roadway work is scheduled for a late summer completion. Curb and gutter work is expected to be completed in early fall.
Central Paving Co. of Boise is the contractor for the $5 million project.
