Work nears completion on U.S. 26 /Idaho 46 resurfacing project in Gooding SHOSHONE - Work is nearing completion on the Intersection of U.S. 26 and Idaho 46 project in Gooding, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Road resurfacing through the city of Gooding this week will include pavement grinding starting Wednesday (Aug. 29).
Seal coating over the 9th Street Little Wood River Bridge will follow Sept. 4-6. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews perform the work. Drivers are urged to use caution and patience around the construction.
The $1.9 million resurfacing work was started in May to create a safer, smoother traveling surface for vehicles along Main Street in Gooding.
Work on the 7th Avenue sidewalk project in Gooding also is near completion. The $355,000 city-sponsored enhancement project to build sidewalks from Main Street to Gooding Schools, including a new pedestrian bridge over the X-Canal, is in its final stages. The new sidewalks and bridge were opened for the start of school early last week. Construction crews will plant new vegetation along the sidewalks in the coming weeks.
"These were two successful construction projects for the city of Gooding," Resident Engineer Thomas Brown said. "The local residents can safely enjoy the finished products for years to come. I'd like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during construction."
