Construction under way on Idaho 31 between Swan Valley and Victor

RIGBY - Construction is under way on Idaho 31 at a point half way between Swan Valley and Victor, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Crews are installing drain pipe beneath the highway about 10.5 miles northeast of Swan Valley and 10.5 miles southwest of Victor.

During construction, motorists can expect 15- to 30-minute delays. Travel will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing northbound and southbound traffic through the work zone.

The speed limit in the work area will be reduced to 35 mph. The width limit for commercial vehicles will be restricted to 11 feet.

Work will take place on Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., with the project scheduled for completion on Sept. 14.

Drivers should anticipate unusual driving conditions, such as merging traffic, construction vehicles, flaggers, and uneven surfaces.

The main drain pipe being installed is 24 inches in diameter. Crews also will install six-inch diameter pipe. The  pipe will carry water from nearby meadows, offering improved water drainage into Targhee National Forest's Pine Creek.
