Idaho 55, from Horseshoe Bend to Banks, will close Friday night from 5 to 9
BOISE - Idaho 55 from Horseshoe Bend to Banks will close Friday evening from 5 to 9 for a controlled burn officials hope will help contain the Chief Parrish Fire, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

One lane of travel will remain open to motorists through Friday at 5 p.m. Pilot cars are guiding traffic. Motorists should anticipate 30 to 40 minute delays. After the four hour closure, one lane of travel will reopen.

Idaho 55 was closed on Tuesday at about 12:30 p.m. when debris from the Chief Parrish Fire started falling on the highway. The highway reopened to one lane of travel on Wednesday afternoon. As of Thursday evening, the Chief Parrish Fire had burned approximately 2,800 acres.

Motorists are encouraged to consider U.S. 95 and Idaho 21 as alternate routes.
