Deep Creek Interchange Bridge closed during reconstruction
Note: The following news release updates and replaces information distributed last week. Please disregard the earlier release.
POCATELLO - The Deep Creek Bridge over Interstate 15 at Exit 17 will remain closed to traffic during rehabilitation of the structure, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will require a detour for traffic eastbound toward Weston, Dayton and Preston.
Rehabilitation of the bridge began last week and is expected to be finished by Nov. 1. The project includes removal of a one-inch portion of the existing concrete surface and replacement with 2.5 inches of concrete overlay. As part of the project, bridge piers will be repaired and existing bridge railing will be replaced to meet current standards.
Southbound I-15 traffic destined for Idaho 36 and communities to the east will use Exit 13 and use a frontage road that connects with the state highway. Motorists who want to access I-15 southbound from Idaho 36 will use the same detour in reverse, merging onto the interstate at Malad City (Exit 13).
To facilitate the bridge construction, I-15 traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction at the Deep Creek Interchange and the speed will be reduced to 65 mph between mileposts 16 and 18. Motorists are asked to use caution when driving through the work zone.
Idaho Construction Co. of Kimberly is the contractor on the $490,000 project.
