Interstate 84/Eagle Road off-ramp widening finishes tomorrow morning (Sept. 12)
BOISE - Improvements to the Interstate 84/Eagle Road westbound off-ramp will be completed early Wednesday morning with the installation of overhead signage, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
A new 1,600-foot extension of the off-ramp will be restricted Tuesday evening at about 7 p.m. and the far right lane of westbound I-84 will close between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the overhead sign installation. The interstate will remain open, as will the off-ramp lanes to Eagle Road.
Motorists approaching the westbound off-ramp will see orange construction barrels in the area. The barrels will channel vehicles away from the closed sections of the lanes, and then taper off to allow motorists to exit the interstate at the off-ramp area.
All lanes are scheduled to be open by 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Interstate 84 off-ramp project began in April. It includes two new turn lanes at the existing off-ramp, new turn signals at the intersection, and the 1,600-foot extension of the off-ramp onto I-84. The new turn lanes opened in July.
The $2.5 million project will reduce traffic backups at the interstate exit and improve traffic flow at the intersection with Eagle Road. It was the first project in the Treasure Valley to use funding from Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds. The program allows ITD to use bond proceeds to build needed highway improvements in less time than through traditional funding methods.
WF Construction of Meridian is the contractor for the I-84 Eagle Road Westbound Off-ramp project.
