Aviation Way to close Monday (Sept. 24) for work on Caldwell Franklin Interchange project
BOISE - Aviation Way will be closed north of Franklin Road in Caldwell from Sept. 24 to late October for reconstruction of the Franklin Road/Aviation Way intersection, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is part of the Franklin Interchange reconstruction.
Traffic turning onto Aviation Way from Franklin Road will be routed to Marble Front Road via KCID Road or 10th Avenue. Signs will direct motorists through the detour.
Intersection reconstruction will include excavation, pipe installation, traffic signal installation, roadway work and concrete paving.
The work is part of the Franklin Interchange reconstruction project, which will lengthen and widen all four interchange ramps at their intersection with Franklin Road. The project includes building a new overpass with two through lanes in each direction and dual left turn lanes in each direction.
The project also will widen Franklin Road from two to five lanes on both sides of a new interchange overpass. The improved road will have a curb, gutter, sidewalk, bicycle lanes and shoulder.
Construction is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2008.
