Caldwell, Blaine and Cleveland paving begins Saturday (Sept. 29)
BOISE - Curb and gutter replacement and most asphalt removal on Blaine Street and Cleveland Boulevard are complete. Paving is scheduled to begin Saturday (Sept. 29), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Contractor crews will start paving early Saturday morning on Cleveland, beginning at 10th Avenue and working east. Between 2 a.m. and noon, motorists can expect temporary road closures and detours at the intersection of Cleveland and 10th and on Cleveland between 10th and 13th.

Motorists can drive on the new pavement 2-4 hours after it has been applied.

Paving on Blaine, Cleveland and Caldwell Boulevard between the Blaine-Cleveland split and Florida/34th Avenue should be completed within two to three weeks. Weather or unforeseen events may cause delays.

To reduce potential delays due to fall and winter weather and avoid prolonged inconveniences to local business, residents and the traveling public, contractor crews will perform some night and weekend work. During paving activities, businesses and residents will have limited access, primarily via side streets. Parking on sections of each road will be eliminated temporarily as work progresses. Signs will alert motorists of detours, temporary business accesses and parking restrictions.

"The transportation department and the City of Caldwell appreciate the community's patience as we wrap up the final phase of this important project. This project has at times been a tremendous burden on local residents and business owners as well as the traveling public," said ITD spokesperson, Mollie McCarty.

These improvement projects on Blaine and Cleveland will extend the life of the roadway and result in lower road grade to match the side streets. Central Paving Company Inc. is the contractor on this $2.8 million project. Completion is scheduled for mid-October 2007.
