Dover Bridge deck replacement project on U.S. 2 to begin Wednesday (Oct. 3)
COEUR d'ALENE - A project to replace the deteriorating deck on the Dover Bridge on U.S. 2 will begin Wednesday (Oct. 3), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is expected to take about a month.
Work will be done at night for approximately the first three weeks. The bridge will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night. It will be open to two-way traffic during the day. Variable message signs and other traffic control devices will alert motorists to the closure. Traffic will be directed to other highways on the state system.
The contractor will be using precast panels to repair the bridge deck. Repair work on the trusses will begin when the bridge decking is in place. This work will be done during the daytime with one-lane, one-way traffic, and will take about a week to complete.
The contractor on the $526,000 project is Harcon, Inc., of Spokane, Wash.
