Blasting work will create closures on Interstate 84/Franklin Interchange on Sunday (Oct. 14)
BOISE - The Franklin Road Interchange (Exit 29) and Interstate 84 east- and westbound lanes near the interchange will be closed for blasting work from 8 to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
Warning signs will be posted for traffic on I-84 before the Exit 27 off-ramp and for westbound traffic before Exit 33.
Franklin Road also will be closed and traffic delayed for about 20 minutes between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. due to the proximity of the blasting work. Muller Lane will remain open.
The eastbound left lane on I-84 near the interchange also will be closed to allow for blasting preparation work. The closure will be in effect from Friday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 14, at approximately 8:30 a.m. The blasting work, which is expected to last about five to ten minutes, will be in the median only.
The work is part of the Franklin Interchange reconstruction project in Caldwell. It will lengthen and widen all four interchange ramps at their intersection with Franklin Road. The project includes building a new overpass with two through lanes in each direction and dual left turn lanes in each direction. The project also will widen Franklin Road from two to five lanes on both sides of a new interchange overpass. The improved road will have a curb, gutter, sidewalk, bicycle lanes and shoulder.
Construction is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2008.
