Interstate 84 eastbound on-ramp at Gowen Road will close by early Friday morning (Oct. 26)
BOISE - The I-84 eastbound on-ramp at Gowen Road will be closed to traffic starting with Friday's morning commute, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The closure is expected to occur late Thursday night (Oct. 25) or early Friday morning (Oct. 26). Westbound I-84 on- and off-ramps at Gowen Road will reopen shortly before the eastbound on-ramp closes. The westbound ramps have been closed since Oct. 15 as part of a 6.1-mile interstate rehabilitation project between the Broadway and Eisenman interchanges.
The traffic changes on Friday morning will also include a closure of eastbound exits 59A and 59B at Eisenman Road. Interstate 84 lane restrictions will continue.
ITD expects work at the Gowen eastbound on-ramp and the Eisenman eastbound off-ramps to last approximately 10 days. Work will then switch to the Gowen eastbound off-ramp for the last major construction work this fall.
ITD expects to complete the fall schedule by the Thanksgiving holiday. In the spring, crews will lay a final layer of asphalt on I-84.
The $12 million project is on schedule to be completed by summer 2008.
Motorists are encouraged to dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.Idaho.gov for driving information on I-84.
