Traffic signal being installed on U.S. 30 east of Twin Falls
TWIN FALLS -  The growing number of vehicles utilizing U.S. 30 east of Twin Falls has grown enough that the installation of a traffic signal has become necessary at one intersection, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The new traffic signal will be located at the intersection of U.S. 30 or Kimberly Road and 3200 East Road also known as Hankins Road.

Construction of the $400,000 traffic signal is slated to begin Monday (Oct. 29). Installation of the signal poles will mean intermittent lane closures throughout the construction period, which is expected to be complete by mid-December.

The intersection has seen an increase in commercial truck traffic as a growing industrial corridor begins to develop in the area. Many residential subdivisions have also sprung up in the vicinity to the north of the highway making the corner increasingly busy for traffic crossing and entering the highway. Population growth in the neighboring cities of Kimberly and Hansen is also contributing to the increased traffic load.

SkyView Electric Inc. from Idaho Falls is the contractor.
