Idaho 55 reopened to one lane of traffic near Smiths Ferry following semi-truck accident
BOISE - Idaho 55 north of Smiths Ferry reopened to one lane of traffic at approximately 7:30 a.m. today (Oct. 31) following a semi-truck accident and fuel spill, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Motorists are being directed through the cleanup area by flaggers, and should expect minor delays.

The semi-tractor trailer rolled on the highway at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, spilling about 600 gallons of fuel. Crews are excavating contaminated soil in the area and running tests to determine whether any of the fuel reached the Payette River, which runs parallel to the highway.

The highway is expected to reopen to both lanes of traffic this evening, depending on the progress of cleanup efforts.
