U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow public open house will be held Wednesday (April 13)

LEWISTON - Two public open house meetings to display results from the U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow alternatives/alignments workshops will be held Wednesday (April 13), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Next steps in the project schedule will also be discussed.

The open house meetings will be at the Eastside Marketplace off the Troy Highway from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend at the time that best meets their schedule. ITD staff will be available to answer questions. No formal presentations or discussion groups are planned.

The information being presented at the open house will be available Tuesday (April 12) on the project Web site. The Web address is www.itd.idaho.gov/GetInvolved/D2/ Click on U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow, Stage 1 and follow the link to Public Involvement and then on Past Meetings.

Common themes and comments heard at the January workshops regarding each alignment will be displayed. Suggestions for new alignments or modifications to the alignments will be shown on maps.

Nearly 200 people attended the workshops on Jan. 19 and 20, where 16 discussion groups were held and more than 550 comment sheets received.

The purpose of the January workshops was to present a range of possible alternatives/alignments to the public and get input. Descriptions and visual representations of five possible new alternatives/alignments plus a no build option were presented:

  • Two west of the current alignment
  • Two east of the current alignment
  • Improve the current alignment

The U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow Project, led by ITD, will determine a design and construct an alignment for nearly 6.5 miles of U.S. 95 in Latah County. This portion of the project will result in an Environmental Impact Statement.
