Broadway Avenue Overpass southbound lanes will reopen Friday morning (Nov. 2)
BOISE - The southbound lanes of the Broadway Avenue Overpass will reopen to vehicles early Friday morning (Nov. 2) after being closed for repairs since mid-September, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The southbound lanes will open before the morning commute.
The Broadway overpass, which crosses over Interstate 84, sustained heat damage on Sept. 16 when a semi traveling on Interstate 84 crashed close to the overpass and caught fire. The damaged southbound span eventually was lifted by a crane. New supports and deck were then rebuilt.
The bridge repair coincides with the 6.1-mile I-84 Broadway to Eisenman rehabilitation project, which began in September. The transportation department added the bridge repairs to its agreement with Western Construction of Boise, the contractor for the Broadway to Eisenman project.
