Section of Idaho 55 near Smiths Ferry reduced to one lane during daytime hours this weekend
BOISE - Idaho 55 close to Smiths Ferry will be reduced to one lane of traffic during the daytime hours through Saturday and into Sunday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

During the night-time hours, both lanes will be open.

The section of the highway between milepost 97.5 and milepost 97.8, just north of the Cougar Mountain Lodge, is where a semi-tractor trailer rolled on the highway at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, spilling about 600 gallons of fuel. Crews have been excavating contaminated soil in the area and running tests to determine whether any of the fuel reached the Payette River, which runs parallel to the highway.

During the day-time hours, flaggers will direct motorists. At night, reflector cones and signs will guide motorists past the excavation site's location.
