Media invite: Motorcycle Safety Event April 24

BOISE— Members of the media are invited to attend a motorcycle safety event on Wednesday, April 24 at 10 a.m. at Dennis Dillon RV, Marine & Powersports, 6772 W. Targee St Boise, ID. This event is an opportunity to learn about motorcycle safety and create content in advance of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, which starts on May 1.

Reporters will have the opportunity to shoot videos and photos of motorcycles on the track as well as interview riders of multiple experience levels, a novice rider, an experienced rider, and an Idaho State Police (ISP) motorcycle trooper.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month because it marks the start of the season when more motorcycles are out on the roads. In 2022 there were 529 motorcycle-related crashes, and 29 motorcyclists were killed. Most fatalities that year occurred in the months of June, July, and August.

This motorcycle awareness event is put on by a partnership between the Idaho Coalition for Motorcycle Safety (ICMS), AAA Idaho, Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Idaho State Police (ISP), Idaho STAR Motorcycle Training, and Dennis Dillon RV, Marine & Powersports.

Additionally, ICMS is hosting a Motorcycle Awareness Rally on Saturday, May 4 at Sandy Point in Lucky Peak State Park, 9723 ID-21, Boise, ID 83716. Motorcyclists can meet in the park starting at 10 a.m. An escorted ride from Sandy Point to the Idaho State Capitol starts at 1 p.m. Following the ride, the Christian Motorcycle Association is hosting a barbeque at Ann Morrison Park, 1000 S Americana Blvd., Boise, ID 83706.
