Media invite: REAL ID deadline one year away on May 7
BOISE— The federal REAL ID deadline, May 7, 2025, is just a year away. To mark the occasion and raise awareness that Idahoans have one year left to get a REAL ID the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Idaho Lt. Governor Scott Bedke will hold a joint news conference at the Boise Airport.
Location: Boise Airport, Upper Rotunda, 3201 W Airport Way #1000, Boise, ID 83705
Date and Time: May 7, 2024, 10 a.m. MT
Beginning May 7, 2025, travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or identification card issued by the state or another acceptable form of identification to board a commercial flight. 49% of Idahoans have a Star Card. Those who don’t have a Star Card, Passport, or other REAL ID accepted document have one year to make sure they are prepared.
To get a Star Card, which is Idaho’s REAL ID Driver’s License or identification card, applicants need documents proving Identity, social security number, and two forms of proof of Idaho residency. Idahoans can use the “Add the Star” tool on itd.idaho.gov/starcard to build a checklist of documents needed to get a Star Card.
