U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow breakfast meeting, public open house

LEWISTON - A breakfast meeting to provide an update about the U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow project will be held Tuesday (April 12), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The meeting will be at the Mark IV Restaurant, 414 N. Main St. in Moscow from 7 to 8 a.m. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at this time and location.

A public open house to show the outcomes of the January workshops will be held Wednesday, April 13 at the Eastside Marketplace off the Troy Highway from 2 to 4 p.m., and 5:30 to 8 p.m. A separate news release will provide details about the open house.

At Tuesdays breakfast meeting project staff will discuss the latest developments on the project and answer questions. Wildlife biologist Dr. Wayne Melquist will be the featured speaker. Melquist is preparing a biological evaluation on the potential impacts of a new roadway on white-tailed deer, elk and moose.

Melquist is gathering information about the animals history on Paradise Ridge and surrounding areas, their foraging patterns and their movement patterns and travel corridors. His evaluation includes the western, central and eastern corridors within the study corridor boundary.

Coffee will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to order breakfast at their own expense.

The U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow Project, led by ITD, will determine, design and construct an alignment for nearly 6.5 miles of U.S. 95 in Latah County. This portion of the project will result in an Environmental Impact Statement.

The kiosk is staffed on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Information about the project also can be found on the ITD Web site: www.itd.idaho.gov/GetInvolved/D2/, click on U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow, Stage 1.
