US-30 under I-84 at Burley will close for the weekend for girder placement
HEYBURN – The Idaho Transportation Department will close State Highway 24/U.S. Highway 30 under Interstate 84 at Exit 211 to install steel girders for the new westbound bridge over the Eastern Idaho Railroad. This work is part of the ongoing construction to rebuild the Heyburn Interchange.
Steel girders are horizontal support beams that are designed to support heavy loads and are used for building bridges.
The closure will start at 6 a.m. tomorrow and last through Monday, Nov. 4, until approximately 7 p.m. Signage will be placed to direct drivers through the detours. Motorists will be routed to Exit 208 to access Heyburn and Exit 216 for Rupert.
Upgrading the interchange will take until late 2026 and is expected to cost $90.1 million. It is being funded as part of Idaho Governor Brad Little’s Leading Idaho transportation funding initiative. The Leading Idaho initiative allows ITD to take a deliberate approach to advance large projects that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho’s economy, and positively impact the Magic Valley and communities across the state for years to come.
