Experts to discuss innovative, effective solutions for transportation projects April 6, 7
BOISE - More than 400 transportation engineers, planners, designers and consultants will gather in Boise Wednesday and Thursday (April 6-7) for a workshop on innovative, effective problem solving for transportation projects. The conference, sponsored by the Idaho Transportation Department, will be at the Boise Centre on the Grove from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
The conference theme is Implementing Context Sensitive Solutions in Idaho. In addition to hearing the nationally recognized speakers, attendees will participate in workshops and view exhibits on innovative and successful new transportation products.
First-day speakers include:

Idaho Transportation Department Director David Ekern

CH2M Hill Vice President Tim Neuman, a nationally recognized expert in context sensitive solutions

Keith Allred, public policy professor at Harvard and Boise State universities specializing in negotiation and mediation

Michael Ronkin from the Oregon Transportation Department, an advocate for walkable communities

Paul Garrett from the Federal Highway Administration, a recognized expert on wildlife crossings and habitat
An awards banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Nineteen nominees are vying for four awards one in each of the following categories: Excellence in Environmental Stewardship, Excellence in Transportation Planning, Excellence in Construction and Excellence in Public Participation.
