American Legion holding flag decommissioning ceremony
BOISE – A flag decommissioning ceremony will be held Tuesday morning to properly retire the damaged American flags that the Idaho Transportation Department removed last week from the Cloverdale overpass due to vandalism.
American Legion Post 201 will lead the ceremony at the Idaho State Correction Center.
ITD crews removed all 32 flags and replaced them with new American flags to honor the fallen airmen who were killed in a 2018 crash.
The Boise Police Department continues to investigate this incident, and those flags not being held as evidence will be properly retired at tomorrow’s ceremony.
